How to create meta descriptions with CyberSEO Pro

In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, optimizing your WordPress content for search engines is a must. Among various SEO tools, specialized plugins come in handy to help creators write unique meta descriptions for each post, improving visibility and click-through rates. CyberSEO Pro allows you to automatically generate meta descriptions for imported and generated content.

To use this feature, navigate to the “Advanced” tab in your feed settings and look for the “Meta description” text box. Here you will need to insert a template to automatically create meta descriptions for each post the plugin generates.

Here you can use any of the supported template shortcodes, as well as Spintax. These handy snippets can be used to reference specific elements of your posts, such as the title, content, or excerpt, e.g.:

  • %post_title% – post title;
  • %post_date% – post date and time of the post in the DATE_RSS format: “YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS”;
  • %post_date[format]% – post date and time of the specified datetime format, e.g.: %post_date[Y-m-d]%;
  • %post_content% – post content;
  • %post_content[max_words]% – the post content in HTML format, with the maximum specified number of words. The post content is shortened to the specified number of words;
  • %post_content_notags% – post content with stripped HTML tags;
  • %post_content_notags[max_words]% – the post content with stripped HTML tags. The post content is shortened to the specified number of words;
  • %post_excerpt% – post excerpt;
  • %post_excerpt[max_words]% – the post excerpt in HTML format, with the maximum specified number of words. The post excerpt is shortened to the specified number of words;
  • %post_excerpt_notags% – post excerpt with stripped HTML tags;
  • %post_excerpt_notags[max_words]% – the excerpt content with stripped HTML tags. The post excerpt is shortened to the specified number of words;
  • %post_tags% – post tags as a coma-delimited text string;
  • %categories% – post categories as a coma-delimited text string;
  • %link% – a link to source;
  • %post_guid% – post GUID;
  • %media_description% – post media description (if media attachments are included);
  • %xml_tags[name]% – an XML tag value, where name must be replaced with the actual XML tag name;
  • %params[name]% – a value of the specified feed URL parameter. E.g. if the feed URL is http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=books&_rss=1, the %params[_nkw]% will be replaced with “books”.
  • %custom_fields[name]% – a custom field value, where name must be replaced with the actual custom field name;
  • %custom_fields_attr[name][attr]% – a custom field attribute, where name must be replaced by the actual custom field name and attr must be replaced by the XML attribute name;

You can also use custom shortcodes to reference XML tags, feed URL parameters, and even specific custom field values or attributes within your meta descriptions.

What sets CyberSEO Pro apart is its integration with OpenAI GPT. This advanced feature allows you to generate a meta description based on the content, title or excerpt of the processed post. The plugin provides a cyberseo_openai shortcode that you can use to generate meta descriptions with AI according to your needs. For example:

[cyberseo_openai model="gpt-3.5-turbo-16k" prompt="Write a meta description for the following article to rank it in Google: %post_content_notags%." max_tokens="150" temperature="0.7"]

In the example above, OpenAI GPT automatically generates meta descriptions for posts based on the content of each post. If you prefer, you can replace the post content with its title or excerpt. This feature is especially useful if the post content is too large for the selected OpenAI GPT AI model, in which case the plugin allows you to truncate the post to a specified number of words using the %post_content_notags[max_words]% or %post_excerpt_notags[max_words]% shortcode.

CyberSEO Pro is compatible with several popular SEO plugins for WordPress, including Yoast SEO, Rank Math SEO, The SEO Framework, and SEOPress. If you have any of these plugins installed and activated, CyberSEO Pro will recognize it and automatically create the post’s meta description in the format preferred by your SEO plugin.

It’s important to note that the All In One SEO (AIOSEO) plugin is not supported by CyberSEO Pro. AIOSEO uses its unique method of storing meta descriptions in a separate WordPress database table, and unfortunately it doesn’t provide an official API to manage these descriptions. As directly manipulating third party database tables can lead to complications and is not a best practice, it was decided not to integrate with AIOSEO. This decision prioritizes the stability and integrity of your website’s database, ensuring the smooth operation of your WordPress site and the effectiveness of the CyberSEO Pro plugin. However, AIOSEO uses post excerpt as a meta description by default, so you can use the “Post excerpt” template in the same way as the “Meta description”.

The integration of CyberSEO Pro with SEO tools represents a step forward in creating efficient, attractive meta descriptions that will help your posts reach a wider audience and rank higher in search results. This feature is a valuable asset for anyone looking to optimize their digital content with minimal effort and maximum impact.
